Four killed as wall collapses in rain in Ranga Reddy district

Hyderabad: In a tragic incident four people of a family died when a wall of their house collapsed at Sangadapalli in Ranga Reddy district in the wee hours of Sunday.

The victims were fast asleep when the wall which had absorbed rain water collapsed. They sustained serious multiple injuries and died on the spot. The incident came to light when locals found their bodies buried under the debris and alerted the police.

The deceased were identified as K. Srinivas, 32, an agricultural labourer, his wife K. Lavanya, 25, their kids Vamshi, 8, and Murali, 4. The house was constructed under the Indiramma Scheme in 2011.

Police said that on Saturday night the family had dinner and went to sleep. Due to heavy rains the walls of the house became wet and one of the walls suddenly collapsed.

“They were sleeping near the wall. The incident occurred between 5:30 am and 6am. Neighbours found the victims under the debris and alerted us. We rushed to the spot but they had died by then,” said CI J. Upender.

Based on a complaint a case under Section 174 was booked. The bodies were shifted to the Chevella Hospital and later handed over to the family.
