BENGALURU: The Bengaluru Development Authority (BDA) is working hard to provide sites and flats to the citizens of Bengaluru, with its housing and Nada Prabhu Kempegowda layout. The beneficiaries of BDA’s 4th notification dated February 28, 2014 have been intimated that flat numbers to successful applicants will be picked through lottery system on June 18.
Over 300 beneficiaries are expected to take part in the lottery process to try their luck with the flat numbers in the BDA- constructed apartments at Doaddabanahally, Kaniminike and Valagerahally extensions. Those who applied for two Bedroom Hall Kitchen flats (2BHK) have been asked to be part of the lucky draw.
Earlier, the BDA had organized a lucky draw on two occasions – the first time it was drawn by chief minister Siddaramaiah. Meanwhile, the BDA is making preparations to carve out spots at the Nada Prabhu Kempegowda layout, to allot sites. The Chief Minster had directed the BDA to form 5,000 sites to be allotted to the citizens.
However, the layout formation at the Kempegowda layout has been inordinately delayed due to land acquisition issues and the central government’s new land acquisition bill. However, the BDA has finalized tenders for formation of layouts in some parts and work on leveling of the land, formation of roads, drains and underground drainage is on. The BDA commissioner T. Sham Bhat told DC that the BDA has sent a letter to the government to revise the application and registration fee.
Once the BDA gets approval, a date will be fixed to call for applications for the layout. It may be recalled that the high court had quashed the acquisition of 4,000 acres of land for the Kempegowda layout and the BDA had to go on appeal to convince the court of the land requirement for formation of the layout, said sources.
Who will get site?
The BDA had planned to allot 20,000 sites at Arkavathy layout. After that, since the layout found itself in troubled waters, the BDA could allot only 12,000 sites and 8,000 beneficiaries are still waiting. Will the BDA consider Arkavathy layout allottees? Will it reserve some percentage for them? These are some of the unanswered questions.
