Two dead as KSRTC bus falls into stream

Two passengers died and 28 others were injured when a KSRTC bus that they were travelling in hit the wall of a bridge and fell into a stream at Byaladahalli in Davangere on Sunday. (Photo: KPN)
Davangere: Two passengers, including a woman, died on the spot and 23 others were injured after a KSRTC bus fell from a bridge into a stream near Byalahalli village in Harihar taluk early Sunday. 
 
The identity of the deceased is yet to be established. The bus was moving towards Davangere from Shimoga. It first hit the protection wall of the bridge and then fell into the stream, killing two on the spot. The injured have been admitted to hospitals in Harihar and Davangere for treatment. 
 
Negligent driving by the bus driver is said to be the main reason for the accident, which happened around 2 am.  About 30 passengers were travelling in the bus. Superintendent of police M.B. Boralingaiah, MLA H.S. Shivashankar and others visited the spot.
