Akrama Sakrama will be within the law, says Karnataka Government

BENGALURU: The state government on Monday told the high court that the Akrama-Sakrama scheme planned by the government to regularise illegal constructions in the city will be within the provisions of law.

The court was hearing a petition by Namma Bengaluru Foundation challenging the government's recent bill on regularisation of illegal structures popularly known as Sakrama-Akrama. The division bench comprising acting Chief Justice S.K. Mukherjee and Justice B.V. Nagarathna adjourned the matter.

KPSC row

The state government on Monday indicated that it may soon initiate action against Karnataka Public Service Commission (KPSC) members who are indicted by the CID in their report. The court was hearing a petition seeking action against these members. Meanwhile the court granted time till Friday to the state for revealing the exact position following the deliberations between the Chief Minster and the Governor with respect to certain KPSC members who are facing criminal prosecution.

Earlier the state had sought time stating that the Chief Minister will be meeting the governor in connection with pending files pertaining to proposed action against KPSC members indicted by CID in their report.
