Government transfers 390 I-T Principal Commissioners, Commissioners

Over four years, the government plans to lower the corporate tax rate to 25 percent

New Delhi: 390 Commissioner rank Income Tax officers, posted across the country, have been transferred by the government as part of the routine exercise.

Officials said the orders have been issued by the Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), the apex policy making body of the I-T department, as part of the annual general transfers in the department.

"The orders were cleared by the Finance Ministry and have been notified now," a senior official said.

The latest orders include officers in the rank of Principal Commissioners of I-T and Commissioners of I-T.

The department is mandated to collect a variety of taxes like Personal Income Tax, Corporate Tax and Wealth Tax under the direct taxes regime.
