Jayalalithaa orders release of water from three dams

Chennai: Tamil Nadu Chief Minister  J. Jayalalithaa on Monday ordered release of water from Papanasam, Servalar and Manimuthar dams for irrigation. In a statement she said she had received requests from farmers to release water from these dams. Accepting their request, she passed the order.

This would benefit 37,435 acre farm lands in Thiruvaikundam, Tiruchendur and Sathankulam blocks in Tuticorin district and Ambasamudram, Nanguneri, Tirunelveli and Palayamkottai blocks in Tirunelveli district, the statement said.
