Pregnant woman allegedly murdered by husband and in-law in Punjab
The victim was seven-months pregnant when she was murdered
Pathankot: A man and his brother have been booked for allegedly killing his 24-year-old pregnant wife for dowry here, police said on Wednesday.
"The body of the victim, identified as Suman, missing for about seven days, was fished out from Upper Bari Doab Canal(UBDC) on Tuesday. Subsequently, her husband Ashok Kumar and brother in-law Vijay Kumar have been booked for dowry death," SSP Rakesh Kaushal said.
According to the police, the victim's mother Darshna Devi had lodged a complaint saying that she was married to Ashok, a resident of Kathua in Jammu and Kashmir, five years ago.
Darshna alleged that Suman's in-laws had continuously been demanding dowry from her daughter and also said that the victim was pregnant by seven months, police said.
The body has been handed over to her family members after post-mortem, police said, adding that, the investigations were on.
