Andhra Pradesh hands over Telangana CM K Chandrasekhar Rao's cases to CID
Case files were handed over to CID superintendent of police & investigation official
Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday handed over investigation of the conspiracy and corruption case against TRS leaders in which Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao has been accused of taking a bribe of Rs 1.2 crore from Anglo Indian MLA Elvis Stephenson for nomination to the Telangana Assembly to the CID.
Interestingly, in a swift move the Vijayawada police made the complainant, Mr Jerusalem Mattaiah, who is a wanted accused in the cash for vote case, to depose before a magistrate in Vijayawada and recorded the statement under 164 CrPC. The complainant cannot go back on his statement later and he can be prosecuted for perjury.
AP DGP J.V. Ramudu said, “Vijayawada police commissioner A.B. Venkateswara Rao had written to me based on which I have handed over the case to the CID. In the letter he mentioned that the case had to be probed outside the state too and it contained (accusation of corruption) against high level persons and also tapping and cybercrime related issues.” CID superintendent of police Koteswara Rao, who was appointed as investigation official, went to Vijayawada and the case files were handed over to him.
