Hyderabad: The Andhra Pradesh government on Tuesday once again expressed its dissatisfaction over the functioning of Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan but fell short of demanding his removal.

“We have been saying that law and order in Hyderabad rests with the Governor and Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act stipulates that. He has to protect the people of AP and their property and the government. But it has not been done. We have no other option but to take care of ourselves,” said ministers P. Pulla Rao and K. Atchennaidu after a three-hour-long meeting with AP Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu over the latest political developments.

“We have got specific inputs that the TS DGP and CP, who met the Governor on Tuesday, told him that the presence of AP police in Hyderabad is not acceptable. If law and order is in the Governor’s hands, it is okay for us, but now the TRS government is controlling it. That’s why we have decided to take our own measures," the minister said. The AP police will guard the residences of AP ministers and officials and other important functionaries.

A minister, on condition of anonymity, told Deccan Chronicle that they had no confidence in Mr Narasimhan and the Centre had been appraised about it. Mr Achchennaidu said that if any constitutional crisis cropped up following a breakdown of law and order, the TRS would be held responsible and the Centre would also come down and take corrective action.
