Guntur prepares for Yoga Day

16 Asanas would be performed on June 21

Asanas would be performed by students from 7 am to 7.33 am and yoga trainers and teachers would participate in the event on June 21 which is promoted by the Central government.

GUNTUR: As many as 16 Asanas (yoga postures) would be performed for 33 minutes during the international Yoga Day on June 21 at Guntur. A official level meeting was held here on Tuesday to discuss the preparations for observing the day. Guntur joint collector-2, M. Venkateswara Rao said that 16 Asanas would be performed by students from 7 am to 7.33 am and added that yoga trainers and teachers would participate in the event on June 21.

Mr Venkateswara Rao said that Yoga Asanas are very good to keep our health intact and that is why the government is conducting this programme to bring about awareness about the benefits of yoga among all sections of the society.

He explained that five Asanas would be in standing posture, another five in seating posture, three in supine posture and another three in vertical posture. He further said that Tadasan, Vrukshasan, Padhastan, Arth Chandrasan, Trikonasan, Baddhakonasan, Arth Ushtrasan, Sasankasan, Vakrasan, Marichasan, Bhujangasan, Salabhasan, Makarasan, Sethubandhasan, Pavanamuktasan and Savasan would be displayed to the public during the Yoga Day.
