Check out: Sports enthusiast creates terrace football ground in Hyderabad
The ground features a heavier-than-normal ball to control the speed on the artificial field
Hyderabad: A sports enthusiast in Hyderabad has taken his passion to a higher level by creating a terrace football ground on the 10th floor of his building to promote the game, especially among youngsters.
The ground features a heavier-than-normal ball to control the speed on the artificial field, with highly durable and high quality nets with a height of 25 feet to ensure uninterrupted play area under flood lights.
Director and promoter of the ground, Pavit Singh, said that the concept received positive response from the people.
"There is such a dearth of playing spaces in our country. I just wanted a place to play so me and my partner got together. We did it purely out of fun and passion and just for the love of the game. The first venue when we opened up we had 20,000-30,000 people knocking on our doors, saying, "Hi can I come and play too?" So at that point we realised the potential for putting up this kind of unique structure for sports. We are trying to influence grass root level of sports," said Singh.

Artificial grass ensures consistency in bounce and ball control. The smooth artificial surface and rubber in-fill make the playfield very safe and offer greater movement to players with the foam-stuffed rebound walls alongside the pitch.
"It is very affordable and easy for people to come two-three-four times a week and play regularly. People are quitting gymnasium, people are quitting regular work out just to come out here. Fitness, healthy lifestyle through sports, education through sports: this is something that we are promoting," Singh added.
The facility is said to be the first-of-its-kind in South India and has set a new trend for people who love sports but don't find space.
"This is a great feeling for us because our football was closed for the last ten years and this is the first time the players in Hyderabad has got chance to play in an open area where they could enjoy a lot," said a player, Sayed Nazib.
The hosts are expecting a growing demand in the coming days, as popularity of the sport grows.
