What’s keeping Tamannaah busy?
Actress talks about Baahubali, doing stunts, Prabhas, her jewellery line and more
Tamannaah might not have any Bollywood projects at present, but the actress is far from idle. From the epic Baahubali that is about to release to launching her own jewellery line, the actress is quite busy. Talking about making headway in the South film industries, she says, “For me the struggle was more about understanding the mentality in the South. There we have just one day of promotions for a film. In Bollywood promotions are huge.”
A film buff
“As a kid, I used to watch six films a day. I’ve watched Kuch Kuch Hota Hai five times and Jab We Met six times in a theatre. Later, I starred in the Tamil remake of Jab We Met,” she says.
Karan Johar has bought the Hindi rights of Baahubali. Talking about her association with the filmmaker, she says, “I am happy he is associated with the film as it needs the right kind of push. Karan has a good sense of humour, he pulls my leg too but pyaar se.”
About her jewellery line
“I am working double now because I’m also working on my jewellery line which is my new business with my dad.”
On Baahubali promos
“Our director (S.S. Rajamouli) had made a film on makkhi (Eega) with a makkhi as the hero and now he has made something huge with Baahubali. People usually believe in showing their best parts in the promo, but he has saved the best parts.”
On Prabhas
“During Rebel, Prabhas was very supportive. I remember once I had a problem enacting an action sequence. I asked him to train me as he had already shot 200 days of action for this film.”
On stunts
“I have performed sword fighting for the first time. In Bulgaria we shot on top of a mountain in freezing conditions for the action sequences. We used to have mock shoots two days before the actual shoot and the editing would be online, so we could see it immediately. A period film using latest technology- it’s an interesting combination.”
