To avoid a clash with Baahubali, the makers of Srimanthudu announced on Thursday that they would be releasing their film on August 7. “It’s not good for the industry to release two good films within a short time. So the makers of both films came to a mutual understanding and decided that Srimanthudu would release on August 7,” says Koratala Shiva, the film’s director.
Initially, the makers of Srimanthudu wanted to release the film on July 17, but the makers of Baahubali requested them to postpone. “Even we can do our post-production work in a smooth manner,” says Shiva. “It’s a mutual understanding between both films. Initially, Baahubali was announced for May and we announced the release date as July. Now, they have officially announced July 10 and both producers came to an understanding and we are now releasing on August 7,” says Shiva. He adds that August 9 is Mahesh Babu’s birthday and it’s going to be a bonanza for him with the film’s release.
Shiva adds that he had narrated the story to Mahesh long ago. “He is a director’s delight and I didn’t do much. He’s one of the greatest actors in our times and I am happy to work with him. Once I come out with the script and dialogues, he understands and acts. My job is very easy,” says Shiva.
