Chennai: PMK founder Dr. S. Ramadoss on Wednesday alleged “gross violation of rules and huge corruption” in signing of solar power purchase agreement between private power producer Adani and Tangedco.

He said Tangedco would suffer a loss of Rs 9000 crore if it would sign a deal for purchasing 1,000 MW at Rs 7.01 per unit for  25 years. In a statement, Dr Ramadoss said Adani had signed a PPA for setting up 216 MW solar plant in Ramanathapuram with Tangedco and the private company also planned to sign another PPA for 648 MW. Dr Ramadoss said private companies have lined up to setup 7,800 MW solar power plant in the state due to a higher tariff of Rs 7.01 per unit. He alleged  Tangedco had signed MoU with Adani in a hurry while leaving out other companies. This year itself the cost of solar power has come down to Rs 5.86 per unit. It will come down to Rs 5 per unit next year,” he said, demanding the state government to purchase power from Adani only at this cost.
