Bengaluru: A 14-year-old girl was gang-raped by three people at an under-construction building near Ragigudda slum in J.P. Nagar police limits on Wednesday night. Police have arrested the accused, Aasai, 19, a fruit vendor, Santosh, 21, a canned water supplier, and Ajay, 20, an autorickshaw driver. All the accused are victim’s neighbours.

The police said the victim, a school dropout, was living with her grandmother in the slum. Her grandmother worked in a nearby convention hall. The prime accused, Aasai, who befriended the victim earlier, took her to the under-construction building on Wednesday around 8 p.m. Santosh and Ajay arrived there and the trio allegedly abused her sexually. The trio left the spot after threatening the girl with dire consequences if she revealed the incident to anyone.

The girl, who returned home, narrated the ordeal she had suffered to her grandmother. Subsequently, her grandmother lodged a police complaint.

J.P. Nagar police, who swung into action, arrested the accused early Thursday. The accused were produced before a city court which remanded them in judicial custody. While Aasai was arrested from his house, Santosh and Ajay were nabbed when they were planning to escape to Chennai by bus. Further investigations are on.
