Ad licence renewal: Notice to BBMP

BENGALURU: Upalokayukta Subhash B. Adi has issued notice to  BBMP Administrator regarding licence/permission for hoardings, flex, banners, boards and other advertisements. As the BBMP has reportedly proposed to renew the advertisement licences, the Administrator has been issued notice to appear in person and clarify on issues related to renewal of licences on June 22.

“There were complaints against the BBMP with regard to irregularities, illegalities and corruption in the matter of issue of permission or renewal and collection of advertisement tax,” the Upalokayukta said in his notice.

It is surprising that the BBMP has now taken a decision to renew advertisement licences, it added.

Garbage at Metro sites

BMRCL MD Pradeep Singh Kharola has informed the Upalokayukta that they have identified places where garbage is being dumped. He said they have prepared a short term solution to have security patrolling from 9 pm to 6 am and a long term plan of maintaining the median by planting saplings.
