Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandr-asekhar Rao is creating a record of sorts — by being the most frequent visitor to Raj Bhavan.

The CM has visited Raj Bhavan over a dozen times since taking oath there last year besides attending at home and other functions hosted by the Governor.

In contrast, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu met Governor Narasimhan about five times. Raj Bhavan sources say that never in the past has a CM paid so many visits to the Governor as has Mr Rao. “Yes, it’s true KCR garu visited Raj Bhavan over a dozen times, the most by any Chief Minister till date. It is because of the formation of the new state, issues pertaining to AP Reorganisation Act and other state related matters. Mr Naidu might have come four to five times, but sent delegations,” a source said.

A great communicator with wide knowledge on various aspects of life including mythology, Mr Rao gets along well with the Governor and the two apparently discuss various issues pertaining to the state and other subjects of common interests. Perhaps he is also the first CM in the state to touch the feet of the elderly Governor as he did recently at the Yadadri function, that earned the wrath of TD leaders.

With Telangana and Andhra Pradesh in the grip of the cash-for-vote case, Mr Rao met the Governor thrice and more visits are expected in view of the TD’s retaliatory attacks, including raking up of Section 9 of the AP Reorganisation Act, making Hyderabad a Union Territory etc.

“It’s not just the CMs, the Governor meets everyone who comes to him. The governor is unbiased and strictly goes by the Constitution and the rule book,” said the Raj Bhavan source.

Interestingly, Mr Narasimhan has become the “whipping boy” in the clash between TRS and Telugu Desam. TRS leaders who were suspicious and had castigated the Governor during the Telangana movement are now backing him to the hilt for his “unbiased approach” while Telugu Desam leaders, who had backed him during the T-movement, are now gunning for his blood for not taking control of law and order in Hyderabad, not stalling action against TD leaders in the cash-for-vote scam and for not taking action against Mr Rao and others for the alleged phone tapping of TD leaders.
