COIMBATORE: Two students of a private school in Coimbatore are not being allowed to enter the classroom because their father raised queries about school fees. The class 8 student, M. Kowsalyaa and her brother, M. Gowtham a class 2 boy, have not been allowed into the classroom for the last 10 days. According to their father, K. Manikandan, his children have been sent out of school because he had raised some queries about the fee structure.

Several parents of the school staged a demonstration in front of the CEO’s office on Thursday, demanding action against the school authorities. “While paying the school fee, I enquired of the school staff about what the term fee was and why they were charging term fee. The school management got angry and asked me to apply for transfer certificate for my children,” says engineer Manikandan.

He has been paying Rs 30,200 per annum for his daughter and Rs 29,200 for his son, but the school does not issue any receipt for charging the annual fee. “Only an ordinary notepad slip is given. Till date, I don’t understand what the term fee is about,” says an angry Manikandan. However, the day after he raised some inconvenient questions, the school management did not allow his two kids to enter the classroom and they were asked to sit in the verandah. The education department after receiving the petition from Manikandan have promised to probe the issue.
