VIJAYAWADAThe recent accidents involving RTC buses in the district have become a cause of concern for public. Careless driving on part of bus drivers is being cited as the main reason behind accidents.

Accidents at Satyanarapuram, Bandar Lakulu, Gunadala and Kondapalli recently clearly reflect the negligence of bus drivers. As per the data received from police department, nearly 10 people have died and a few others were injured in these three mishaps which took place over a period of two weeks.
While RTC officials remained tight-lipped over the issue, public is concerned over the same and has demanded action against negligent drivers.

“RTC drivers are the main culprits in all the three accidents recently,” said Heena Firdose, a resident of Labbipet. Speaking on the issue, RTC regional manager P.V. Rama Rao said, “The drivers, if found guilty, would be suspended immediately from the services and charges under IPC section 304 A, causing death due to negligence, will be slapped against them.”

However, Mr Rao added that it's not always the driver's fault. The corporation will conduct Safety Driving Assistance for the drivers who work in danger prone zones and also conduct special classes for all the drivers in such zones every Tuesday and Friday, informed Mr Rao.

Meanwhile, the RTC drivers said bikers and other vehicle drivers are also a reason for the increasing number of accidents on the road.
