Cash-for-vote case: ‘Unwell’ Veeraiah skips questioning by ACB
Hyderabad: Telugu Desam MLA Sandra Venkata Veeraiah didn’t depose before the Anti-Corruption Bureau though the notice period given to him ended on Friday evening.
The ACB had served a notice on him in the cash-for-vote case under 160 CrPC, asking him to appear before the agency. But the MLA claimed that he was ill and was being treated at an undisclosed hospital. He informed the ACB that he would cooperate once he recovers.
Mr Veeraiah, in his letter to ACB additional SP M. Malla Reddy, said: “I have come to know from my friends and the media that you have asked me to appear before the agency regarding the case. When I was on a personal tour, I got serious spinal pain and a sprain in my right leg due to which I consulted doctors. They advised me 10-day rest and asked me not to travel. I am now being treated under doctors’ supervision. I regret for not appearing before you. I will come to you after I get well and cooperate with the investigation. As I don’t have your phone number I am sending this through my friends,” (sic).
