Rain-hit Mumbai comes to halt, 283 mm rainfall in 24 hours

Mumbai: Heavy rains pummelled Mumbai and its suburbs and brought normal life to a grinding halt on Friday. Two persons were electrocuted and several areas were waterlogged even as local train services were cancelled leaving thousands stranded.

As civic authorities described the rainfall in the country’s financial capital as “unprecedented”, they said 283 mm of rain, which is normally received in 10 days, was witnessed in 24 hours.
