Bengaluru gears up for International Yoga Day
The city is all set to celebrate the first International Yoga Day today
Bengaluru: The city is all set to celebrate the first International Yoga Day today, with yoga camps, yoga performances and various cultural events being organised across the city. The main event will be held at Kanteerava Stadium, which will be inaugurated by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah at 10 am. Earlier, a Yogathaon will be taken out from Cubbon Park to Kanteerava Statidum. Shwaasa Trust has organised the day-long event at the Kanteerava outdoor and indoor stadiums.
UB City is also holding special programmes between 6 am and 1 pm, which includes yoga session by Ajithsingh Tapasvi, founder Yogisthaan and Ashtanga Yoga session by Pradeep Gowda, founder of a1000Yoga.
The ban on vehicles inside Cubbon Park during weekends will continue and the horticulture department has organised Yoga Day celebrations, in which all the morning walkers can participate.
Pragya Bhatt from HealthifyMe will hold yoga sessions at Freedom Park from 6.45 pm. At Padmanabhanagar, Yuva Brigade is organising an event at Puttalingiah Auditorium. Other venues for the Yoga Day celebrations include BBMP playground, Koramangala 5th Block, Malleswaram Playground, Kempegowda Playground, Subramanya Nagar, 8th Cross Play Ground, Malleswaram, 4th Main, 13th Cross, Government School, Malleswaram, Bapu School, Triveni Road, Yeshwanthpur, Government School, Mathikere, Sankey Park, Sadashivnagar, MSR Nagara Welfare Association Office, M.N. Krishna Rao Park, Basavanagudi and Yoga Bharathi, DPS, Kanakpura Road. Akshar Power Yoga will celebrate at Mampho Convention Centre on Hebbal Outer Ring Road.
