Bengaluru: Lake encroachment panel chairman gets threat call
The MLA has requested the government to provide necessary security
Bengaluru: Ranibennur MLA K.B. Koliwad, who is also the Chairman of the House Committee constituted to probe the encroachment of lakes in Bengaluru, has lodged a complaint with Sanjay Nagar police early this month after an unidentified caller allegedly threatened the MLA’s 11-year-old grandson, who was having the MLA’s phone at that time.
“It was a 25-second call on May 29, where the caller threatened my grandson with dire consequences. Usually my phone will be with my son all the time, but on that day, the phone was with my grandson,” Koliwad told Deccan Chronicle. The MLA has requested the government to provide necessary security. “I had submitted a report to the Chief Minister and Home department in this regard, and asked for necessary security,” he said.
The Sanjay Nagar police have registered a case and are investigating into the incident. “The caller did not use any SIM, and used internet to make calls and our staff are trying to track him down,” said Deputy Commissioner of Police (North Division) T. Suresh.
“The call was made to prevent me from submitting report on the lake encroachments across by land sharks. They must be aware that the report on the lake encroachments would be submitted to the government shortly and the caller is trying to stop me from doing this,” the MLA said.
