GuwahatiIn what is going to give a new dimension to the ongoing peace talks in Nagaland, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given his nod to reverse the “historical blunders” and “unconstitutional acts” of the home ministry, which, through an executive order in 2005-06, had debarred the state government from intervening into any law and order issue concerning  NSCN in the state.

Authoritative security sources said that state government was not a part of the standard operating procedure on dealing with NSCN. Indicating that the Centre is now prepared to take the views of Naga civil society into account in finding an amicable solution to the problem besides making the state government a party to the SOP, security sources regretted that most of the stakeholders, including the state government, was kept in dark over the ongoing peace-talks since 1997.
