Hyderabad: The Telangana government on Saturday warned the AP government of serious repercussions if it “continues to the browbeat” Telangana media, politicians and officials. The state witnessed protests by TRS cadre and journalists following the notice issues to T News.
Irrigation minister T. Harish Rao and several of his colleagues criticised AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu for using the police to serve a defamation notice to T News.
“The AP government’s action of filing 87 cases against Telangana CM and constitution of SIT is quite silly. We can file one lakh cases against Naidu but we respect the rule of law,” Mr Harish Rao said.
“Naidu should not forget that there are several dying declarations of Telangana martyrs who have blamed him for their deaths. Dying declarations are a serious matter. There is the case of IMG Bharta and the likes,” he said.
Accusing Mr Naidu of trying to “save his skin” in the the cash-for-vote scam, Mr Harish Rao said the Centre and the Governor should immediately intervene and direct AP to withdraw all its police forces from Hyderabad.
Ministers Jagadish Reddy, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Congress leader T. Devender Reddy, TRS MPs B. Narasaiah Goud and A.P. Jitender Reddy and others flayed Mr Naidu’s “high-handed behaviour” and attempts to divert attention from the scam.
