Ayurveda doctor dies during yoga session in Hyderabad
Reddy went against the advice of yoga trainers and inhaled water through one nostril
Hyderabad: Retired government ayurveda doctor Veera Reddy, 60, died while practising yoga at the Sahara Estate community hall in Vanasthalipuram on Sunday morning.
Dr Reddy went against the advice of yoga trainers and inhaled water through one nostril to take it out from the other (jalneti).
Malesh Kumar, a resident of the colony, said, “The water never came out and he fell on the floor and rolled about. We could not do anything.”
It is suspected that the water affected his breathing and he had a major heart attack. Community members, along with Dr Reddy’s wife Sabuhagya Laxmi and son Sai Nandan Reddy, rushed him to Kamineni Hospital where he was declared brought dead.
Members of the community hall said that he practised yoga every day enthusiastically. He worked at the Karvan government centre in the old city and had retired six months ago.
