Chennai: In yet another metro work site accident, a 37-year-old woman was injured when a barricade, due to strong winds, accidentally fell on people waiting for a bus in Thirumangalam. This is the fifth accident, related to railway work sites, in the last two weeks since June 8. The victim, Tamilarasi, a resident of Red Hills was waiting for a bus at Thirumangalam when a metal sheet on the site fell on her.

“She suffered injuries on her head and doctors at a private hospital had advised to take treatment as in-patient after treating her head injury. She was given nine stitches,” Ilayaraja, brother of the victim told this newspaper on Sunday. Tamilarasi was waiting with other commuters when the incident happened. She was returning after visiting her sister, Ilayaraja said. It may be noted that so far five mishaps, including a fatal one, happened in which the public were at the receiving end.
