Bribes alleged in medical admissions allotted by government
‘B’ category seats of private medical colleges are now demanding Rs 1.35 crore as fee
Hyderabad: Congress MLA S.A. Sampath Kumar alleged that crores changed hands to make the government permit 10 per cent of ‘B’ Category Medical seats go to private medical college managements causing injustice to SC, ST, BC and minority students.
Addressing a news conference here on Monday at the CLP office, he said till now the government was granting admissions to 10 per cent seats under 'B' Category for all students belonging to socially backward sections by collecting Rs 2.4 lakh as fee.
But recently the government allotted the ‘B’ category seats to private medical colleges who are now demanding Rs 1.35 crore as fee for a seat. “This is allowing private medical colleges to loot students. No backward class student can pay that much to get admission to MBBS.
It is very clear that crores changed hands in this deal. I demand the government to come out with a statement on this or else it will be taken that the government has accepted the charges,” Mr Sampath said.
