Tirunelveli: An independent contestant for the R K Nagar byelection in Chennai was arrested by Tirunelveli police for attempting to sit on a fast in the district collector office premises here without getting police permission on Monday.
Venkatesh (32) son of Azhagarsamy of ESI street, Vikiramasingapuram, Tirunelveli district came to the collectorate here on Monday to complain about malpractice in the appointment of four junior assistants in the Vikramasingapuram municipality last year.
