Policeman who jumped queue to face music

KOZHIKODE: Disciplinary action will be taken against the policeman who jumped the queue at the Kozhikode railway station last week.
City Police Commissioner P. A. Valsan has directed officials in Kannur to identify the person from the photograph appeared on social networking sites and take appropriate action.
Dr Shiyas Hussain Sheriff, a native of Kollam, had posted his image, captured on his mobile phone, which went viral.
The policeman has been identified as a head constable with the Armed Reserve Camp in Kannur.
“It’s indeed a highly offensive attitude, which is never expected from men in uniform,” he told Deccan Chronicle. “We were informed that the police authorities in Kannur have initiated action”.
More than 5,000 people had shared Dr Sheriff’s post within a day. “In spite of seeing a long queue, the policeman without even requesting people in the queue, jumped the line and got his ticket,” said Sheriff who was on his way to Kollam from the city.
“I humbly requested him to follow the rules but he showered verbal abuse on me without respecting his uniform. Watching me taking photographs, he forcefully tried to snatch my mobile from my pocket and tried to drag me to another man in uniform”.
He asks how can one expect the common man to obey the law if their protectors behaved like that.
