The film I Love NY is suddenly back in the news — for not exactly good reasons. While heroine Kangana Ranaut has sent T-Series a legal notice to stop the old film from being released, her co-star Sunny Deol too has made his displeasure evident. Now T-Series boss, Bhushan Kumar, has revealed that the film was, in fact, stuck because of Sunny.

Bhushan says, “I hadn’t spoken about this because of my respect for Sunny as a senior artiste, but you can’t go to the level of maligning my company. My film was held up for four years because Sunny refused to dub for it. This, after I had paid him his entire fees and not a single penny was delayed. There were some portions to be re-shot, but he said that he couldn’t do then, as he had grown a beard for Yamla Pagla Deewana.

I sent him a legal notice and told him that I will have to get someone else to dub his voice, after which he agreed to dub for my film. By then Kangana Ranaut had lost interest in the film, but she still agreed to dub and re-shoot her parts. She has been professional and I have no complaints against her.”

About the notice sent by Kangana, he says, “A year and a half ago, I had sold the rights of the film to a sister company, so they will take a call on when to release the film. I understand that Kangana has had a series of hits and does not want this film to release, but I’m helpless in this case. Actors like Shah Rukh and Salman add a clause in their contract saying they will have a say on the release date of a film, but Kangana or Sunny cannot do so because they had no such clause in their
contract.”
