Arrest retired IAS officer for job racket: Madras High Court
Vivekanandan and his son Kavin Vivek were facing allegations of cheating 13 persons
Chennai: The Madras high court has directed the deputy commissioner of police, Anna Nagar, to take steps for apprehending a recently retired IAS officer D. Vivekanandan in connection with a job racket case. Justice P. N. Prakash who gave the directive said, “Even during the course of investigation, it appears that the accused were not arrested by the police, perhaps because Vivekanandan was a serving IAS officer then”.
Vivekanandan and his son Kavin Vivek of Tiruvanmiyur were facing allegations that they had cheated 13 persons by collecting Rs1.3 crore on the promise of getting jobs in secretariat. On complaints from persons, who neither got back their money nor the job, the Thirumangalam police in Anna Nagar registered a case against them in 2013.
As they failed to appear when the charge sheet was filed, the XX metropolitan magistrate issued non-bailable warrants against the duo. One of the victims filed the present petition to direct the police to execute the NBWs and secure them to be produced before the court.
