Hyderabad: Pinning his hopes completely on Governor E.S.L. Narasimhan, AP Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu continued his strategy sessions in the Secretariat on Tuesday on the alleged telephone tapping issue.
Taking note of the rigid stand of his Telangana counterpart on implementation of Section 8 of the AP Reorganisation Act, Mr Naidu advised all his Cabinet colleagues to mount an attack on Mr Chandrasekhar Rao and up the ante on Section 8. Accordingly five ministers who were present in the Secretariat specially convened media briefings and demanded that the Governor should utilise the powers vested in APRA. Mr Naidu confabulated with all the ministers separately on the issue. He also asked party leaders to speak on the same lines. “We have scored over Telangana on the issue and the Centre has supported our view. Now it is up to the Governor to step in. He should use his good offices to restrain Telangana from going ahead on the issues and try to avoid confrontation,” said sources in the CMO.
Both the government and TD leaders felt that the phone tapping issue has eclipsed ‘vote-for-note’ scam and their concerted efforts to invoke Section 8 issue have borne fruit.
The BJP minister Kamineni Srinivas has also supported the views expressed by AP and said the Centre will not fear the statements of Mr Rao.
