Tirupati : Chief Secretary I.Y.R. Krishna Rao instructed the district officials to make necessary arrangements to President Pranab Mukherjee's visit to Tirumala and Tiruchanoor on July 1. The Chief Secretary addressed a meeting held in Annamaiah meeting hall in Tirumala on Tuesday. District collector Siddarth Jain explained the steps taken by the district administration to welcome the President in airport, the safety and security measures, medical and road repair works undertaken through a power point presentation.
Mr Krishna Rao instructed the officials to appoint a liasioning officer for the secretaries accompanied by the President. He instructed the officials to take steps to make President’s visit a grand success. Elsewhere, Mr Krishna Rao expressed satisfaction over the maintenance of the night shelters in Tirupati. He inspected the night shelter in Patnala Street along with district collector Siddarth Jain on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, he instructed to improve maintenance of night shelters. Mr Siddarth Jain said, “At present there are two shelters in Tirupati and one night shelter in Chittoor. We have sent a proposal to the government for the construction of another night shelter in Mandanapalle. Street children, destitutes are residing in the night shelters.”
He said for destitute woman, they are providing work also. The officials will provide night meals to the inmates of the night shelters. The TMC will bear 90 per cent of the cost and MEPMA will bear remaining cost, he added. He said that they will admit the school-going age children in the hostels. Mr Krishna Rao said the state government taken up this programme for the welfare of the destitutes.
