Bengaluru: Two other suspected dengue deaths were reported in the city on Tuesday, a day after a 16-year-old girl was confirmed dead with the deadly flu. Dilip (23), a resident of Kereguddadahalli, died at BGS Hospitals in Bengaluru on Tuesday. The victim was hospitalised after he suffered from high fever for the last two days. He died after his condition worsened on Tuesday.

In another case, 59-year-old Champa Prahlad died of dengue, her relatives said. “She was hospitalised at Manipal North Side Hospitals two weeks ago. She suffered from dengue shock syndrome and died of complications,” they said.

Ms Champa Prahlad was a resident of Subramanyanagar near Rajajinagar. The family said that dengue was confirmed by another clinic too. But the Health Department only confirmed the death of 13-year-old Niveditha as due to dengue. “The diagnosis was of refractory shock with suspected dengue. After conducting both Elisa and NS1 antigen tests, we confirm that she died due to dengue,” a source said.

She was suffering from high fever for almost a week and was vomiting for one whole day. “The test on June 21 revealed a hemoglobin count of 7 gm and platelet count of 40,000,” the official said.

The health and family welfare department stated that 85 cases were reported on Tuesday alone. A total of 914 have been tested positive across the state so far. In Bengaluru, 302 cases have been confirmed.
