Ex-DRDO director-general Avinash Chander gets ASI award

Dr Chander has been recognised for his contribution to missile technology

Hyderabad: Former DRDO director-general Avinash Chander has been conferred the prestigious Aryabhatta Award by the Astronautical Society of India. City scientist Dr B.H.V.S. Narayana Murthy was conferred the Rocket and Related Technologies Award for 2013. Dr Murthy is associate and technology director, Navigation and Embedded Computers, Research Centre Imarat.

Dr Chander has been recognised for his contribution to missile technology. He steered the first three missions of the Agni 5. Dr Murthy has developed real time onboard mission computers and other avionics systems used in missiles.
