Visakhapatnam: In tune with Union government’s decision to develop Visakhapatnam as one of the smart cities in partnership with the United States, Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) is set to launch a new android mobile application ‘Smart Vizag’, first of its kind in Andhra Pradesh.
With this new app, Vizagites can now pay property taxes and all other bills through their smart phones. Presently available on GVMC’s official website free of cost, the app is soon going to appear on Google Play store. With decreasing smartphone prices, this app is definitely slated to benefit the super busy and those who do not have access to computer for paying bills online. The city civic body has assured the Vizagites to use the app without any concern about their money. The money goes to the IDBI bank account first and then transfers to the GVMC.
GVMC Commissioner Pravin Kumar said, “To relieve Vizagites from the impatient waiting in the serpentine queues at Mee-Seva and Saukaryam Centres, we are introducing this new Smart Vizag app. Property tax, water tax, vacant land tax, trade license fees and many other bills can be paid through this app.”
The app also provides complete information about the city, including all the GVMC officials’ phone numbers, the GVMC’s citizen charter, tourist sites and hospitals to name a few. And one of the attractions of this app is its display of parking spaces besides showing a route to them. GVMC has executed an agreement with IDBI for this app. But presently this app is available only on android platform, leaving the users of other software devices behind.
