Bengaluru: Two held for smuggling 161 kg of red sanders

Bengaluru: Sleuths of the Organised Crime Wing of the Central Crime Branch arrested two people and recovered 161 kg of Red Sanders worth Rs 4.83 lakh and a car from them. The arrested have been identified as Sheik Wasim, 25, a resident of Kurubarahalli, and Syed Dastagir, 30, a resident of Old Bagalur Layout in Lingarajpuram, the police said.
The police are on the lookout for four others, identified as Mansoor, Boss alias Wajid, both residents of K.G. Halli, Rafiq Ahmed and Rahman from Shira, who are also involved in Red Sanders smuggling, the police said.
The car, in which the accused were traveling, was intercepted on SME Road under Jalahalli police limits on Tuesday. The car was going from K.G. Halli towards Nelamangala, the sleuths said.
The accused had procured and stocked Red Sanders about a month ago and they were caught while they trying to smuggle it and sell it off in Nelamangala.
