Eluru: Minister for panchayat raj and West Godavari in-charge Ayyanna Patrudu stated that AP government is having every right to perform its functions in the common capital of Hyderabad as per the provisions of AP Reorganisation Act, 2014 and there is no need for it to survive on the mercy of TS government.

Speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday, the minister said that the AP government could enjoy all the rights similar to the ones being enjoyed by the TS government in Hyderabad and added that the AP government could stay there not only for 10 years but for the time until a new capital city was developed.

He said that the AP government could maintain its own police in Hyderabad as it could not be a mere spectators when its people were being attacked. Referring to Section 8 of AP Reorganisation Act, 2014, the minister said that it was similar to other sections in the Act and added that when all sections get implemented, it should also be implemented.

With regard to the speculation that TS Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao was planning to stage fast-unto-death if Section 8 is implemented by investing the power to maintain the law and order in Hyderabad to Governor, the minister reacted in a lighter vein and said, “Let him do so as he is used to do it.” He flayed YSR Congress chief Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for failing to come up with the party's stand on implementation of Section 8 clearly.
