Bengaluru: Sisters fiery fight alarms apartment neighbours
They were detained and produced before a court, the police said
Bengaluru: Mr Ravikumar Kakagde, Residents of Sterling Park Apartments were in for a shock after seeing a thick cloud of smoke coming out of one of the flats on the fourth floor of the residential complex.
Fearing that the fire would spread to other houses and floors, one of the residents, Vivek, alerted the Fire Brigade, who rushed to the spot and doused the fire. They also rescued two sisters from Flat No. 20 on the fourth floor, from where the smoke was coming.
The two sisters told the officials that they fought and set fire to each other’s clothes inside the house in the heat of the moment. The sisters – Mary D’Mello (30) and Stella D’Mello (28) – hail from Goa.
The jurisdictional police too arrived at the spot and found out that they were proclaimed offenders. Arrest warrants were pending against them in an attempt to murder case registered in April 2014. They were detained and produced before a court, the police said.
The two sisters and a cable operator were arrested by the Kodigehalli police in April last year for allegedly assaulting their neighbour, Raju Khurana, in the apartment. The victim had alleged that he was stabbed and beaten up by the trio on April 9 last year, while he was going downstairs in the lift.
The incident was captured in the apartment CCTV. The two sisters and the cable operator Chandrashekhar were booked for attempt to murder and other IPC sections, said the police.
