New Delhi: The NDA government is once again on the backfoot as a Delhi court on Wednesday took cognisance of a complaint against human resources development minister Smriti Irani for allegedly giving false information about her educational qualification, with the Congress and the AAP demanding her immediate sacking. The BJP, however, still continues to back the minister, and rejected demands for her resignation.
Fixing the matter for hearing on August 28, metropolitan magistrate Akash Jain said, “It is held that the present complaint case is filed under limitation (of time). Cognisance is taken.” In his order, the magistrate fixed August 28 as the date for pre-summoning evidence.
