US, Japan agencies help make Visakhapatnam a Smart City

The civic chief further said that, these projects will be taken up in various modes including PPP and BOT

Visakhapatnam: Greater Visakha Municipal Corporation  commissioner Pravin Kumar said that various agencies have been involved in preparing plans to make Vizag Smart City.
Talking to reporters here on Tuesday, Mr Pravin Kumar said that US Trade Development Agency (USTDA), which is coordinating with Vizag Smart City plans is compiling various data and a master plan is expected to be ready within two months.

These agencies are involved in studying water supply, sanitation, sewage treatment, environment, tourism, transport system. He added that, the agencies studying these aspects of the city will also suggest who would implement the projects and also the funding agency.

The civic chief further said that, these projects will be taken up in various modes including PPP and BOT.  Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and European Aid may also fund certain Smart City projects. Mr Pravin Kumar will be leaving to New Delhi on Wednesday to attend a two-day high-level meeting on Smart City plans and discuss about making Visakhapatnam a Smart City.
