The trio used to come to the city by car and return home by flight with their loot
BENGALURU: The Central Division Police busted an inter-state gang of robbers by arresting one person of the three-member gang from Rajasthan recently. The trio used to come to the city by car and return home by flight with their loot. With the arrest, the police claim to have cracked a burglary case.
The arrested has been identified as Sanjay Kumar Jehangir. He was nabbed by a special police team from Pilani village in Rajasthan. The police noticed a white Volkswagen Polo with a Rajasthan registration number moving around in Sheshadripuram, a few minutes before the house of a businessman, Ashok Kothari, was burgled in broad daylight on May 25.
Soon after the burglary, the police grew suspicious about the car. During investigation, the police analysed the call detail records from the nearest tower and found a few mobile phone numbers of Rajasthan activated. Suspecting the involvement of a Rajasthan gang, Sandeep Patil, DCP (Central), formed a special team to crack the burglary case.
After collecting vital clues, the team left for Pilani village from where Jehangir was arrested. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime committed in Bengaluru. He told the police that he and his associates Satyapal and Sandeep burgled Ashok Kothari’s house in Bengaluru.
Sandeep took a flight back to Rajasthan with the loot, while he and Satyapal returned to Pilani in their Polo car. Efforts are on to nab the two. A case has been registered in Sheshadripuram police station.
