14 coconut oil brands banned in Kerala

The food safety officials had collected the samples of these oil brands and tested them at authorised laboratories

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Commissionerate of Food Safety has banned the production and sale of 14 coconut oil brands in the state,  which were  being re-branded and sold in the market.

The following are the banned brands:  Kerala Plus (Edakkara), Green Kerala (Palakkad), Kerala A One (Thirupur), Kerala Super (Thirupur), Keram Drops (Ramanattukara), Blaze (Malappuram), Pulari (Pathanamthitta), Coco Sudham (Changampuzha), Kallada Priyam (Thrissur), Kera Nanma (Thrissur),......Copra  Nadu (Thrissur), Kera Sree (Kozhikode), Coconut Nadu (Thrissur) and Kera Nanma (Varkala). 

The food safety officials had collected the samples of these oil brands and  tested them at authorised laboratories.

The authorities have been cracking down on various oil brands and collecting samples for the past several weeks. The Commissioner of Food Safety has ordered that these brands should not be  manufactured or sold in  the state. 

The public can inform the  authorities on the toll free number 1800 425 1125  if  these products are found in the market.
