Popular baby food Pediasure found unfit
Pediasure produces a number of nutritional drinks for children ranging from 2 to 10 years
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Food safety authorities collected samples of Pediasure – a nutritional drink for children – following a complaint from a customer in Thiruvananthapuram here on Friday.
The Commissionerate of Food Safety authorities have given directions to the distributor and manufacturer to immediately recall the particular batch of the product which was found unfit.
The authorities have also decided to inform other state’s authorities about the complaint regarding Pediasure, one of the popular nutritional drink brands being sold in the country.
The customer, who bought the product from inside the Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital, found that it was unfit for consumption and reported it to the food safety authorities.
The food safety authorities immediately swung into action and carried out an inspection and collected samples from inside the hospital.
“The product is distributed by K M Mathews and Company here. We immediately inspected their office and collected samples from the stock there. Samples have been sent for further scrutiny,” said asenior food safety official.
