Two persons died on the spot in separate road accidents in the city
Bengaluru: Two persons died on the spot in separate road accidents in the city under Byatryanpura and Yelahanka traffic police limits since Thursday night. In the first incident a 42-year-old bike rider died after a tipper lorry hit his bike from the rear on Mysuru Road on Thursday night.
The deceased has been identified as Girish G. Kamat, a resident of Kengeri Satellite Town and an employee at a company in UB City. According to the police, the accident happened around 10.30 pm when Girish returning home on his bike. When he reached Gopalan Arcade, he got hit by a tipper lorry.
Passersby rushed him to a nearby hospital, but he succumbed to his injuries later, the police added. The body was shifted to Victoria Hospital for post-mortem and handed over to his family members. Byatrayanpura traffic police have registered a case.
In another incident, an unidentified man was mowed down by a speeding cab at the Bharathinagar cross near the Indian Air Force station early Friday. The victim was later run over by other vehicles and the body was beyond recognition, the police said.
According to the police, the accident happened between 5.30 am and 6 am and the cab driver has been arrested and the vehicle seized. The body has been shifted to M.S. Ramaiah Hospital and is awaiting identification, the police added. The Yelahanka traffic police have registered a case and begun investigations.
