Raja hijab remark irks Jawahirullah
Ramanathapuram MLA demanded the arrest of BJP leader under national security act
Chennai: Manitheneya Makkal Katchi leader and Ramanathapuram MLA M. H. Jawahirullah on Friday demanded the arrest of BJP leader H. Raja under the National Security Act for his recent remark against Muslim students.
In a statement, Jawahirullah alleged that Raja while talking to newspersons at Nagapattinam recently had made some remark about wearing of hijab by Muslim students. This is a vicious statement by the BJP leader. The Constitution guaranteed Muslims to practice their religion. Raja’s comment was unwanted and condemnable. It aimed at dividing people.
This was not the first time that he was making such remarks. His hate speech was a threat to the country’s democracy and its secular fabric, Mr Jawahirullah said. Efforts to contact Raja for his reaction proved futile.
