GUNTURThe Congress SC Cell has sought social security pension to Dalits from villages in the capital region who lost agricultural employment. Addressing a press meet here on Saturday, Congress SC Cell chairman, E. Rajasekhar said that Dalits form the working class of villages in the capital region and they have lost their livelihood due to stoppage of agricultural activities. Claiming that Dalits are worst sufferers, he said that the government had promised employment to these people but in vain. He demanded sanctioning of social security pension to all Dalits of 29 villages in the capital region.

Mr Rajasekhar said that Telugu Desam never worked for the development of suppressed SC/ST communities but is trying to divide SCs in the name of categorisation.

He added that a Dalit leader, T. Sravan Kumar is the MLA from Tadikonda SC constituency in the capital region but the TD government never took  suggestions of Mr Sravan Kumar and this shows TD's bias towards Dalits. He demanded  packages to tenant farmers, agriculture workers and Dalit farmers.
