Hotels slash room tariff for Godavari Pushkaralu
State to take away about 50 per cent of A, B category rooms

Rajahmundry: Hotels are offering discount on room tariff to devotees who visit the city for Godavari Pushkaralu. The city has 50 hotels of A, B and C categories with a total strength of 1,374 rooms. Out of them only five hotels fall in Category A with total strength of rooms to be 334 while 24 hotels having 741 rooms which fall under category B. In Category C, 21 hotels exist with 299 rooms. Hotels in Category A are three star hotels. Normally, there is a 24- hour check-out time.
Based on the directions from the state government to reduce the room tariff for the benefit of devotees, the hoteliers are going to offer discounts ranging from 20 per cent to 25 per cent on room tariff especially in hotels falling under categories A and B. However, the check-out time is reduced to 12 hours a day. The move is aimed at accommodating more number of devotees in the hotels.
The state government intends to take away about 50 per cent of the rooms in hotels of A and B categories for their officials and staff posted on duty. Hoteliers are free to fill the remaining rooms as per demand from the devotees. Hoteliers have planned to develop a common website and post details of number of hotels, category, facilities, availability of rooms and tariff.
The Rajamahendri Hotels and Lodges Association executive committee member A. Suresh said, “We will go by the directions of the government with regard to blocking of 50 per cent rooms for its officials and also to reduce tariff. It's a win-win situation for both the government and us.”
