Rain ruins files kept in the open at Kozhikode municipal corporation
Officials unsure if damaged documents are for disposal; roofing made of plastic
Kozhikode: Many files of the Kozhikode municipal corporation are getting drenched because they have been dumped in the open inside the office.
The files, mostly related to the health department, are said to be for disposal, but the officials are not sure.
The files get damaged as the roofing of the building, made of plastic, is leaking. “Nobody knows whether they are actually needed. They should properly preserve them or dispose them of,” said Vidya Balakrishnan, corporation councillor.
Corporation additional secretary P. Sudhakaran said that he would look into the issue. “I don’t know whether the files are required or not, but keeping files in this manner would send a wrong message to the public,” he said. “There are clear guidelines to dispose of the files,” he added.
Health standing committee chairperson Janamma Kunjunni said that the files might be for disposal. “But I am not sure about all the files kept there,” she said.
